To learn web design, you need to know the basics of building and creating a website. That's why, before you fill your website with content, you have to think about how it will look. If you're a beginner, you can learn to build and design a website with Dreamweaver. Here's how to learn web design with Dreamweaver:

Install Dreamweaver

The first thing you need to do to learn web design is get Dreamweaver and install it. Once it's installed, open Dreamweaver. Choose Create New, then choose HTML.

Create a Table

Tables are very important in website design. They're what you use to build the layout of your website. You can choose whatever layout you want to create. What you need to know is that the layout has to meet website design standards. It needs room for a header, a menu, a body and, of course, a footer. To create a table, you first have to insert one. Choose Insert Table from the Dreamweaver menu, enter the number of rows and columns, then set the table width. You can set the width to whatever your website needs. After that, set up the table for the header, footer and other sections.

The header and footer are just as important in website design. In the header, you can place your online store's logo, and if you also have a physical store, you can include its address there too. Below the header, you can create a menu bar with drop-down menus. In the footer, you can include the copyright for your website design and the year it was created.

Create the Menu

When designing a website, you need to spell out which menus you'll show. These menus will appear in the menu bar. And beyond the menu bar itself, you also need to create drop-down menus. Drop-down menus are a common feature of website design. For example, if your website sells online, the drop-down under the Products menu would list your product categories, such as gadgets, laptops and so on. To create a drop-down menu in Dreamweaver, go to the Insert menu, choose Layout Objects, then choose Spry Menu Bar. This insert has to go below the HTML <table> code. Then choose Horizontal and click OK. Don't forget to fill in the menu so it looks full and doesn't leave any blank space.

Choosing Colors

Color is just as important in website design. You need to be smart about your color scheme. For the menu bar, think about both the text color and the background color. Menu bar text has two colors: one when the mouse isn't over it, and another it changes to when the mouse hovers over it. On Tokopedia, for example, the menu bar text is black when the mouse isn't over it and turns red when you hover over it. Dreamweaver handles colors automatically, so you don't have to type in the color codes. That's our beginner's guide to learning web design with Macromedia Dreamweaver. We hope it helps.
