Have you ever felt that you burn through your internet data so fast that buying more costs a lot? To manage your money well, you need to cut back, not just on internet data but on other things too. On Android you can limit data usage, but what about a computer? Can you save internet data on a PC as well? To answer that, here are some tips for saving internet data on your computer:
Use a Data Plan Split by Time of Day
Some data plans aren't split up and can be used fully around the clock. Others divide the quota by time of day. To save internet data on your PC, it's better to use a split quota. You can match it to your needs. For example, if you like streaming or watching movies online, pick a plan with a bigger midnight quota than daytime quota. Take a 12 GB plan split into 6 GB for midnight to 6 a.m., 4 GB for 6 a.m. to 5 p.m., and 2 GB you can use at any hour. At night you can stream smoothly without interruptions, and the data goes further than it would at busy times such as late afternoon into the evening.
Limit Your Internet Speed
Another tip for saving internet data on your computer is to limit the internet speed on your PC. You can choose a large plan that comes with a slower speed, so you still come out ahead because you get a fairly large quota. Streaming and downloading will feel slow, of course. But just browsing social media won't feel as slow as streaming. Choose a plan with a speed of at least 20 Kbps.
Turn Off Images
The last way to save data is to stop images from loading on the websites you browse. When your quota is running low, this is the right way to stretch the data you have left. Pages will look bland, but it works very well for saving data.
Setting it up is easy. In Mozilla Firefox, type “about:config”, then type “permissions.default.image” and change its value from 1 to 2.
