Hosting and Domain Prices: Do You Have to Pay Every Year?
The price you pay up front usually covers hosting and a domain for the first year only. From the second year on, the annual fee is yours to pay.
Webdesign-jakarta.com - Plenty of people are still confused about how web hosting fits into web design. Web design clients often assume that what they pay up front is the only cost. Unfortunately, unless you have your own server, renting hosting and a domain is an extra cost you have to pay every year, no matter how much you spent on the initial web design. The up-front web design fee usually covers hosting and domain prices for the first year only. From the second year on, you'll usually pay the annual fee yourself, and the amount depends on how big a hosting plan you use. Very few web design vendors include several years of domain and hosting in their initial fee. You need to know that this is a mandatory yearly cost. Below are hosting and domain prices from some of today's best-known providers:
Rumahweb
IDwebhost
Hawk Host
HostGator
OK, those are the prices and specs of the four hosts above, and as you can see, the providers differ widely. On average, hosting can cost up to IDR 500,000 a year, while a domain costs IDR 100,000 to 200,000 a year. The list above includes both Indonesian and international hosts. If you don't have a credit card or PayPal, renting from an Indonesian host really is the best solution. In our view, though, hosting abroad is better, because those providers truly offer 24-hour service, and their features, prices and specs are stronger. Why are we doubtful about Indonesian hosts? Because in our experience they have many problems, and their features, specs and prices don't make a strong case for renting from them. These prices can change at any time, but they stay fairly stable from year to year, close to the original price.
You can often get a free domain when you first buy hosting. You can also use a discount coupon on your first purchase: search for the keyword "coupon + host name + year", and you'll find sites that offer hosting coupons for first-time buyers. Black Friday is famous among international hosting providers, who offer huge discounts of up to 90% off, or even free hosting. Black Friday falls between November 23 and 30.
